In partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, Air Congo starts with a fleet of 10 planes

Currently regarded as the continent’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines is inspiring other airlines to enter into joint ventures with it to benefit from its expertise. This is the case of a recently announced joint venture with the DRC.

Air Congo, the new airline in the making, the result of a joint venture between Ethiopian Airlines and the DRC, is expected to start operations in early December with a fleet of 10 aircraft. Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde GebreMariam (pictured) revealed this in an interview published by Sam Chui Aviation & Travel.

“We have just signed an agreement with the DRC government which owns 51% of the airline, and 49% is ours. The fleet will include DHC-8-Q400s, Boeing B737s and two B787s ”.
