On June 27, Ethiopian Airlines opened its cargo route connecting Addis Ababa Bole to Urumqi, China, to open its cargo route. After just one month, it appears that this route has become a key logistics hub for the transport of goods between the two countries.
Dereje Derero, General Manager of Cargo and Logistics Services at Ethiopian Airlines, announced that “We have successfully transformed our route to Urumqi into a corridor between Africa and Asia.”
The cargo route, which was inaugurated last month, is the first to connect Africa to northwest China, adding to the 83 cargo flights operated weekly by the African airline, connecting its Addis Ababa Bole hub to eleven airports in China.
Through its routes to China, Ethiopian Airlines Cargo has the ability to promote local exports and even facilitate trade between the two countries while ensuring the security of cargo with the help of a skilled and qualified team.
Carrying nearly one million tons of cargo annually, Ethiopian Airlines serves a global network of over 140 destinations thanks to a modern fleet equipped with state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled cargo infrastructure.
