In an ambitious move to strengthen its domestic flight network, Ethiopian Airlines has just unveiled a brand new terminal at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Dedicated exclusively to domestic flights, this recently renovated terminal represents a major investment of 50 million USD.
The surface area of the terminal has been doubled to reach 25,750 square meters, thus doubling its capacity. This expanded space includes four direct aircraft contact gates, ten remote boarding gates, and 22 check-in counters equipped with an automated baggage handling system. Travelers will also be able to take advantage of self-service check-in kiosks and a state-of-the-art security screening system.
Ethiopian Airlines, which operates two hundred flights daily to 22 internal cities in Ethiopia, sees this terminal as a central part of its modernization initiative. The terminal is not only functional but also comfortable, offering an exclusive lounge for Premier passengers and various other amenities to enhance the traveler experience.
According to Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines group, the opening of this terminal is a key step in the country’s airport infrastructure development strategy. “The expansion and renovation of the national terminal is not only a step forward for our airport but also for the entire air transport network in Ethiopia, helping to boost the local economy,” he said during the inauguration.
With this new facility, the leader in African air transport continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the African aviation industry, proving its commitment to providing superior services to its passengers while supporting the country’s economic growth.
