Ethiopian Airlines: Towards the launch of a direct flight to Havana?

Ethiopian Airlines is considering launching a direct route between Addis Ababa and Havana, Cuba.

This new route, which could appear in the Star Alliance member airline’s schedule next year, will be the first of its kind connecting the two countries with year-round direct flights.

“There could be a direct route between Ethiopia and Cuba within a few months,” noted Meylin Suárez Álvarez, Cuba’s ambassador to Ethiopia, on the sidelines of the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“Addis Ababa enjoys considerable appeal, backed by a significant economic zone,” he added.

For Ethiopian Airlines, the idea is to develop routes that don’t currently exist, offering distinct advantages while focusing on onboard comfort.

If the Addis Ababa – Havana flight goes ahead, the Cuban capital will be the first Caribbean destination to join the Ethiopian Airlines network.
