Ethiopian Airlines Launches New Cargo Route from China

Since June 27, Ethiopian Airlines has been operating a weekly all-cargo route between Ürümqi-Diwopu Airport in Xinjiang, China, and Addis Ababa Bole. This service will offer new capacity to Ethiopian and Chinese exporters and importers.

Between 18 and 20 tons of payload are available each week thanks to the two weekly frequencies scheduled by the Ethiopian airline on this route, operated by Boeing 777 freighters.

“This flexibility is designed based on the cargo types booked or targeted,” explains Dereje Derero, Managing Director of Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services.

ETH Cargo handles pharmaceuticals, industrial goods, and various other products for export, and agri-food products for import.

Ethiopian Airlines’ cargo network in transit from China also benefits from a flight from Macau to Madrid, Spain, which opened last April.
