Ethiopian Airlines reports higher annual revenue

Ethiopian Airlines has just released its financial results for the 2026/2027 fiscal year. With revenue of $9.1 billion, Africa’s leading airline is in strong financial health, up 20% from the previous year.

“From an operational standpoint, 2025 and 2026 were marked by another record performance in terms of the number of passengers carried, which stood at 20.7 million, a significant 8% increase compared to the results recorded during the previous fiscal year,” announced Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines Group.

On the cargo side, the figures were also positive for Ethiopian Airlines, which recorded a 16% year-over-year increase, transporting 897,000 metric tons.

A major investment in the fleet to support growth

Ethiopian Airlines’ results are underpinned by a strategy of continuous fleet expansion for both its international and domestic networks. The national carrier acquired two new aircraft during the year, bringing the total to 150, and plans to go even further: six new Boeing 787-9s are set to strengthen its long-haul network, while an order for 25 small commercial aircraft is currently under consideration, intended to bolster its domestic network.
