Ethiopian Airlines resumes flights to Tigray

Ethiopian Airlines has announced the resumption of its flights to Tigray in the north of the country, after a suspension that lasted only a few days due to the armed conflict between regional forces and the federal government.

Ethiopian Airlines’ schedule includes several daily departures between Addis Ababa Bole and Mekele-Alula Aba Nega.

The resumption of flights to Mekele demonstrates Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to supporting local tourism and economic activity.

According to Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Africa’s leading airline: “We are delighted to return to Tigray Mekele and look forward to continuing to expand our offerings for the local market.”

The national carrier presented this return as a strategic step towards one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious destinations, from a heritage perspective.

For flights that have been cancelled in recent days, Ethiopian Airlines has offered its passengers two options: Cancel their booking and request a refund or change their departure date free of charge.
