As part of its regional expansion program, Ethiopian Airlines has announced the inauguration of a new route to Nacala, Mozambique, its third destination in the country.
While already operating regular flights to Maputo and Beira, Ethiopia’s national carrier plans to deploy its Boeing 737-8 (16 + 144) to Nacala Airport from Addis Ababa Bole starting next month. Although the route was originally scheduled to launch last July, operations will not begin until October 27. Ethiopian Airlines had announced that this new flight would follow a triangular route connecting Addis Ababa to Nacala with a stopover in Blantyre, Malawi.
Regarding the schedule, the flight departs Addis Ababa three times a week, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 9:20 AM, landing at Malawi’s Chileka Airport at 12:15 PM before departing again at 1:15 PM to arrive in Nacala at 2:20 PM.
The return flight leaves the Mozambican city at 3:20 PM and lands directly at Addis Ababa Bole at 8:05 PM.
A year full of new developments for the Ethiopian Airline
The new route to Nacala is just one of several new developments announced by the Star Alliance member this year. These include the launch of a flight to Lyon with a stopover in Geneva, the inauguration of three domestic flights to Negele Borena, Gore, and Debre Markos, and a regional flight to Durban, South Africa, scheduled to launch this coming December.
