Ethiopian Airlines announces strong revenue growth

Ethiopian Airlines reported strong performance for the first six months of fiscal year 2025/26.

During the last fiscal year, revenue generated by the African airline giant reached 4.4 billion.

“The revenue generated during this fiscal year has once again demonstrated the resilience and flexibility of our airline’s business model and our fantastic team of employees,” noted Mesfin Tasew Bekele, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.

Revenue for fiscal year 2025/26 exceeded the airline’s 2% growth target. Cargo division revenue also increased, transporting 451,000 tons of freight during the same period.

At the beginning of this year, Ethiopian Airlines introduced several new destinations to its network. The Star Alliance member airline announced the launch of flights to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Hanoi in Vietnam, and Porto in Portugal, bringing its total number of international destinations to 145.

Alongside these new additions, Ethiopian Airlines is focusing on expanding its long-haul fleet. The national carrier has placed a new order with Boeing for nine new wide-body aircraft.
