Ethiopian Airlines Cargo to acquire two 777-300ERSFs

Ethiopian Airlines has announced a new development for its cargo division. The national carrier has placed a lease order with AerCap Holdings N.V., the world’s largest aircraft leasing company, headquartered in Dublin.

The order is for the delivery of two Boeing 777-300ERSFs, converted from 777-300ERs previously used solely for passenger transport.

At the signing of this contract with Ethiopian Airlines, Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, stated: “We are delighted to deepen our partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, one of our key customers, which will be the first African carrier to integrate 777-300ERSFs into its cargo fleet.”

These two aircraft, scheduled for delivery during the second quarter of 2028, are equipped with “The Big Twin” wide-body twin-engine jets, enabling them to operate very long-haul flights, such as the flight linking Addis Ababa Bole to Xinjiang in China (approximately 7000 km), with a freight transport capacity of up to 100.7 tonnes for a cargo volume of 819 m³.
