Ethiopian Airlines opens new route to India

Ethiopian Airlines launched its new route to Hyderabad, India, on Monday. With no competitors on this route, it operates this new route three times weekly, using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft that can accommodate up to 204 passengers in three travel classes.

With the launch of this flight, the Star Alliance member airline adds a total of six Indian destinations to its international network, already serving Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai, operating up to 50 connections each week, including commercial and cargo flights.

At Addis Ababa Airport to announce the launch of this new flight, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said he was “delighted with this new connectivity between East Africa and South Asia, opening exciting prospects for both countries.”

In 1975, the Ethiopian airline operated its very first Addis Ababa – Kigali flight. Since then, more than three million passengers have been transported on this route.
