Ethiopia: Inauguration of a new regional airport

A new regional airport has just opened in Ethiopia. It was inaugurated on May 27th by Abiy Ahmed, the Prime Minister of the East African nation.

The airport is named after the southern Ethiopian city of Negele Borena Geda, in the Oromia region.

Initially serving three weekly flights, the new airport boasts a runway capable of accommodating modern aircraft such as the Boeing 737 MAX.

Ethiopian Airlines expands its domestic service:

Ethiopian Airlines will serve this airport several times a week, connecting Borena Geda to Addis Ababa Bole.

According to Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines Group: “Negele Boran is a new destination that joins our rapidly expanding domestic network.”

Negele Boran has become the 24th city to join Ethiopian Airlines’ domestic network, which includes several important local destinations such as Arba Minch, Assosa, Dire Dawa, Jinka, Mekelle and Semera.
